Australia Geography

Australia is the largest island in the world, with approximately 3 million sq mi/7 million sq km. Australia is not only the country, this is also the continent. The country is surrounded by the Indian and Pacific oceans. From the Asia, it’s separated by two seas – Arafura and Timor. Australia is divided into both states and territories which are Australian Capital Territory (the capital city - Canberra), New South Wales (the capital city - Sydney), Northern Territory (the capital city - Darwin), Queensland (the capital city - Brisbane), South Australia (the capital city - Adelaide), Tasmania (the capital city - Hobart), Victoria (the capital city - Melbourne) and Western Australia (the capital city - Perth).
